Shared AI Sovereignty: APERTUS
Event Overview
Artificial intelligence has become the latest frontier of geopolitical competition. As nations scramble to get ahead of each other, the term “AI sovereignty” is often associated with dominance. In a landscape shaped by large nations and their corporations, Switzerland is pursuing a different definition of AI sovereignty. By developing Apertus, a fully open-source large language model, Switzerland presents a future which prioritises trust, transparency and independence. Dr. Daniel Dobos, director of research at Swisscom, will be joining us to discuss what sovereignty in this context means, why it is essential, and how Switzerland in particular has positioned itself to attain this goal. Additionally, he will explain how Apertus can be used to generate value in private corporations, public institutions and our individual lives.
